Praying the Psalms {day 1}

Sometimes Often my flesh sneaks into my thoughts and life much more than I would like to admit.

I’m indecisive.
I’m not very bold when I should be.
I’m too sensitive.
I care too much about what others think of me.
I am selfish.

So, one thing that I have often wondered about is how much of my flesh creeps into my prayers.

There is one, sure way to know that our prayers are in line with God’s will…

…and that is to pray the Scriptures.

This has become my favorite way to pray. I guess my indecisive, ye-of-little-faith self finds assurance in praying the very words of God from His word. God’s Word gives strength and power to my prayers.

Praying the Scriptures has changed my prayer life.

And that is why I want to share some of my favorite prayers from the Psalms for the next month!! I’m so excited about sharing this adventure in prayer with you! And I hope you will feel welcome and free to share in the comments any of your thoughts and ideas!!

I love to pray the beginning of Psalm 5 in the mornings…learning to wait on Him.

If you love praying the Psalms also, I’d love to hear some of your favorite passages to pray! Please share!

31 Days of Praying the Psalms

Every year for the past few years, Nester has done a 31 days series in October! Last year, over 700 bloggers participated!! And here are all the 2012 bloggers participating!! You might remember, last year my series was on praying for our children.

This year, God has placed on my heart another topic concerning prayer: Praying the Psalms.

In trying to think of something I could write about for 31 days (yikes) I kept coming back to the Psalms. It is probably my favorite way to pray.

My plan is to share 31 of my favorite Psalms with you that I like to pray!!

This page will also be the “main page” for this series, and I will link up each day’s post and keep them all here for future reference.

I hope you’ll join me starting October 1st!
